But there's plenty of work to do. As a Senior Technical Writer, you'll play a key role in helping users leverage our platform to meet their goals via the API as well as the UI. We're looking for a great communicator, both verbal and in writing, with strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly. You're inquisitive, asking great questions and digging deep with subject matter experts to understand our platform and our users. Your questions not only lead to simple, useful, organized documentation, but they can influence the quality of the product. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING The Senior Technical Writer (API) will create technical content primarily for developers who are working with our platform. You'll join a high-performing team of technical writers and report to the Senior Manager, Technical Content. As a member of this team, you'll work with product managers, engineers, and many others throughout the organization to understand the product and create helpful, clear, accurate documentation. You will also engage on meaningful initiatives driven by our team as we re-envision the information experience for our customers and address the needs of a growing global customer base. Writing clear, accurate, helpful, timely, well-organized documentation for a developer audience in Markdown and HTML, using primarily Visual Studio Code Working with product managers, engineers, technical account managers, and others to understand product and customer goals Working with The Trade Desk product platform via the API (using Postman) and the UI to develop a deep understanding of the product Using GitLab to merge updates from your local branches into the master repository as part of content delivery to our custom developer portal Maintaining API and integration documentation in a public GitHub repository Advocating for better processes that lead to an improved customer experience; identifying opportunities to improve quality or efficiency and proposing new ideas and projects Using analytics data and feedback mechanisms to understand customer needs; identifying opportunities to do so Participating in implementation of new systems such as new or updated CMS tools and translation workflows REQUIREMENTS:

years of experience writing API documentation Proven ability to write high-quality technical documentation Familiarity with best practices in technical writing, for example, by following a department style guide, or researching best practices Deep familiarity with one or more technical content authoring and content management tools, such as Oxygen, Madcap Flare, RoboHelp, Paligo, or other tools Ability to work with languages such as Markdown, HTML, XML, CSS, XSL, JavaScript, or YAML to write, edit, and troubleshoot deliverables Familiarity with common source control and bug tracking tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jira) Familiarity with using Postman to test endpoints and create code samples Experience creating visuals such as screenshots and videos using screen capture and screen recording tools Strong research, requirements gathering, planning, writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills Ability to scope and plan technical writing deliverables based on product plans, prototypes, and specifications Ability to develop cross-functional rapport and relationships with product managers, engineers, product marketing managers, account managers, and others Ability to learn complex systems quickly, become a product expert, and offer advice on features and needed improvements A self-starter, with great attention to detail, strong time-management and decision-making skills, eager to learn and take new assignments Commitment to improving the customer experience; devoted to customer success Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience HIGHLY DESIRED:
Experience in digital advertising technology and concepts Familiarity with translation processes; experience working with translated content Experience migrating content to a new tool or CMS
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Editorial & Content ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
