Job Description As an Embedded Solutions Engineer focused on Ethernet and relevant communication protocols (i.e. PCIe), you will engage with clients to create technical solutions while identifying and building new business using your engineering expertise. Job Responsibilities Utilize Microchip's Client Engagement Process to drive design wins to revenue at select target clients. Use insight and influencing skills to teach clients about their industry and offer unique perspectives on their technology, which link back to Microchip 's solutions. Be an authority in Ethernet solutions, able to both advise on and implement innovative ideas and solutions to Microchip's clients working in this area. Engage with Sales and Marketing teams to provide pre- and post-sales technical support for all product lines with a primary focus on Ethernet including relevant new technologies (PCIe). Engage in client architectural discussions and reviews driving best in class support with Microchip storage solutions. Fully support client development processes that include Microchip Ethernet solutions (Switches, PHYs, etc) to advance design-in to post-production. Provide software/SDK training to customers and work with them to integrate Microchip SDK/Software with customer software. Work closely with customers on their platform bring up, debug any issues and escalate to engineering teams where needed. The ESE will analyze, debug and root cause issues found within Ethernet products and work with appropriate development and support teams to provide quality solutions. Provide guidance on architectural reviews, schematic reviews, design-in and product training for OEM/tier-1 customers integrating Ethernet products. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to define an outline of the product presentation and promotions with customers; participate in writing Application Notes, White Papers. Provide essential communications across functional teams to improve product features and processes, support and attention to client needs. Support the company technical and business relationship with the assigned clients. Identify the key client stakeholders and coach those stakeholders to build consensus for Microchip's solutions within their organization. Contribute and participate within a global team environment, to successfully develop and implement sales strategies across clients, divisions, and geographical locations. Communicate effectively with Microchip product divisions providing quantifiable feedback and ROI for their investments in clients. Relevant work experience with at least two years of experience in semiconductor application/sale Competencies Skilled and practiced in techniques used in ETHERNET solutions including Ethernet MAC, PHY and Switch operation, focused on Layer 1 and Layer 2 of the OSI Model HW development and System debugging. Layer 2 Ethernet Protocols:
VLAN, Spanning Tree, LACP, 802.1X, IGMP, IPMC, SNMP, and management protocols. Carrier Ethernet services/protocols PB, PBB, MPLS-TP, OAM, Protection switching, IEEE802.3ah, Y.1731, SyncE, IEEE1588 PTP. Hands-on:
Skilled on programming in C and C+
with prior experience in software debugging. Understanding in the use of Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers and Ethernet Protocol Analyzers to debug prototype circuitry. Ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously. Strategic/Critical Thinking-Systematically solves problems and hypothesizes possible client pain points, expectations, and implicit needs; brainstorms with team members to devise solutions to solve complex client challenges. Communication-Tailors communication to the client's needs with authority; effectively delivers presentations and has strong verbal and written communication skills. Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
