Salary Information The salary range for the Maintenance Worker I classification is $64,604.

The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a Maintenance Worker I position in the Trades Shop located at the Central Service Yard within the Facilities Management Division.
The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic service repair and maintenance requirements of Library Department facilities.
This position reports directly to the Public Works Trades Supervisor, with additional feedback and guidance from the Library Department's Capital Manager.
Working under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker I will perform semi-skilled maintenance, repairs, and improvements to Library facilities on a regular basis.
The incumbent also needs the ability to recognize the correct tool for the task and be familiar with the safe and effective use of power and hand tools of the carpentry, paint, and plumbing trades.
This position works alongside the various trades consisting of carpentry, lock services, painting, and plumbing.
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
Communicate and coordinate projects and status of tasks on a regular basis with the Library Department staff and Public Works Trades team.
Minor construction and repair projects including wood and metal framing and including aspects of rough and finished carpentry.
Installation and repair of doors and windows (metal, wood, fiberglass) and related hardware.
Re-configuring and assembly of modular office cubicle and furniture including partitions.
Perform minor cabinet construction and repair.
Mounting of miscellaneous wall items (shelving, white boards, picture frames, clocks, etc.
).
Demolition and hauling of materials, as projects require.
Knowledge and experience in preparation of various surfaces, and paint finish applications, practices, and methods.
Work and communicate well with customers, including co-workers, other trades, client department personnel, management, and the general public.
Follow written and oral instruction, interpret plans, construction drawings, and adhere to building codes and specifications to perform the work required.
Promote teamwork and work as part of a team, including taking the lead as well as a supporting role to complete projects.
Provide project status and updates as requested.
Consistently lift construction related materials (approx.
weight of up to 100lbs.
).
Adopt appropriate safety working procedures.
This position will be expected to work varied hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications 1.
Education:
Completion of high school or equivalent (General Educational Development GED Test or California Proficiency Certificate).

Experience:
One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers, parks and public facilities.

Licenses or Certificates:
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
