Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Manager will plan, organize and perform clinical duties to meet Health Center goals with emphasis on patient centered care, provider productivity, patient satisfaction and adequate patient workflow.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for directing, organizing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the allied health care staff in an out patient setting.
The Nurse Manager will perform direct clinical duties when needed.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Oversee nursing services for pediatrics and adult medicine.
Supervise RNs, LVNs and MAs.
Develop and improve appropriate standards, policies, procedures, and protocols for Health Center nursing services.
Facilitate and direct patient care planning, including medical orders, administration of medications, and the performance of treatments, tests, and functions per clinical orders and within scope of practice.
Perform diagnostic tests and administer CLIA-waived lab tests.
Oversee ordering of clinical supplies/equipment according to purchasing policies.
Plan and organize RN and MA clinic scheduling and staff coverage.
Evaluate nursing and support staff activity and take corrective action where needed.
Monitor infection control practices and employee safety practices.
Oversee lab at clinic site to ensure all controls and regulations are met according to CLIA standards.
Work with QI manager to ensure patient screenings, follow-ups, education, and referrals are done according to HRSA policies and protocols.
Document and maintain clinical records per appropriate standards and regulations.
Assist in development, orientation, and training of nursing and clinical staff.
Coordinate OHSA, environment of care and infection control training.
Conduct Health Center new hire safety orientation.
Monitor patient cycle times and identify potential inefficiencies.
Participate in quality assurance and improvement encompassing medical support services ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Participate in QI committee and CHP, VHP, and county meetings as requested.
Coordinate monthly clinic meetings.
Work with medical director to develop agenda items and/or training information for scheduled team meetings.
Identify incidents, sentinel events and patient complaints and report according to established policy and protocols.
Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Master's degree preferred.
RN or LVN license from the State of California required.
Four or more years of nursing experience.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Experience with electronic health records.
English language proficiency required.
Ability to lead, direct and manage clinical staff.
Ability to communicate well with people of various cultural, professional, and experiential backgrounds.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
