Shape the Future of California's Built Environment
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) is seeking a Summer Fellow to support our
Infrastructure-focused work within our new Policy Fellowship Program. This fellowship will
provide early-career professionals with hands-on experience tackling California's most urgent
infrastructure challenges-housing, transportation, energy, and grid resiliency-from the
perspective of the state's innovation economy.
About the Fellowship
Fellows are placed within SVLG's Infrastructure and Business Competitiveness track, part
of our restructured Centers of Expertise (COEs). You'll join a cross-functional cohort of fellows
across other issue areas, supporting SVLG's real-time advocacy and helping advance
infrastructure modernization strategies essential to California's economic competitiveness.
Key Issue Areas
- Sustainable and transit-oriented housing solutions
- Grid resiliency and clean energy policy
- Regional and state transportation investments
- Permitting and regulatory streamlining for infrastructure projects
Primary Responsibilities
- Track and analyze state and local legislation, budget items, and regulatory developments
- Draft concise bill briefs, policy memos, and internal updates for SVLG leadership
- Support member engagement and coalition-building
- Assist in preparing briefing materials for meetings with public officials and stakeholders
- Contribute to events, workshops, and strategic convenings
Ideal Candidate
This opportunity is designed for current undergraduate students or recent college
graduates interested in pursuing careers in political science, public policy, or related fields.
Strong candidates will demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in infrastructure, sustainability, or economic development
- Coursework or experience in public policy, environmental studies, or urban planning
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
Fellowship Terms & Application Info
- Length: 3-4 month terms (flexible start dates)
- Structure: 1-2 fellows per issue area; cohort-based model
- Compensation: Monthly stipend provided
